Who I Am:

Welcome to My Journey: Faith, Family, and a Passion for Healing

Hi, and welcome! I’m Michelle, a devoted Christian, wife, mom of two, and social worker with 20 years of experience in supporting children and adolescents through some of life’s most difficult challenges. My journey in social work has taken me through many roles—each one strengthening my passion for helping young people navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts.

For seven years, I worked directly with foster children, guiding them through transitions, loss, and the complexities of the child welfare system. I later spent three years in hospice care, walking alongside families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. My journey then led me to provide in-home and in-office counseling for children and adolescents, where I helped young clients find their voices and begin their healing journeys.

For the past eight years, I have served as a school social worker, a role that has further ignited my commitment to advocating for students facing mental health struggles, trauma, and emotional challenges. Seeing firsthand how anxiety and depression affect children and teens has only deepened my desire to make a difference.

Academically, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Shorter University and my Master’s degree in social work from the University of Georgia. Currently, I am pursuing my doctorate in traumatology and community counseling, a path that aligns with my mission to bring hope and healing to young people who have experienced adversity.

Through this blog, I hope to share my experiences, insights, and resources to help others better understand mental health, trauma, and resilience. Whether you are a parent, educator, fellow social worker, or someone looking to support a child in need, I invite you to join me on this journey.

Let’s learn, grow, and uplift one another together!
